    Egret's location.

    Raw position packets.

These Lat/Lon locations are collected by a ham radio system (APRS).  Sometimes Egret will be out of range and her position report will not be received.... Please check again later...

Egret's location will be shown as "KM6AF", Einar's ham callsign.

Technical information:  We have our GPS connected (using NMEA 0183) to a TinyTrak II ( http://www.byonics.com/ ) packet TNC.  The TNC connects to a 2m ham radio (144.39Mhz).  It blasts out a packet every 2 minutes when moving and every 30 mininutes when stopped.  There's an extensive network of ham stations that pick up these packets and pass the lan/lon over the internet to a central database machine (http://www.findu.com).  That machine produces the displays and maps that you see here.
