San Francisco Valiant Rendezvous 2000

The San Francisco Valiant Rendezvous was held at Paradise Cove on the east side of the Tiburon Peninsula September 22-24, 2000. Sailors aboard Egret (V40-112) and Moria (Cape Dory/pre V42-148) arrived Friday evening, getting acquainted over a glass of wine before retreating to their boats for dinner. Larry and Susan said that although #148 currently exists as several cans of resin, layup will begin on Monday! Exciting!

Saturday morning saw the arrival of Bill and Mary by auto and dinghy. Raptor Dance, their new V50 (107) is under construction in Texas. Chris and Louise arrived early Saturday afternoon aboard Landover (V32-152) as did Chris Martin aboard Amazing Grace (V32-137) and Al Parker aboard Amazing Grace (V40-108). A party ensued in Egret's cockpit... It IS possible to seat 11 party goers in a Valiant 40 cockpit; if they weren't friends before, they will be afterward!

The party adjourned and re-formed for a pot luck dinner ashore in Paradise Beach Park... Bob and Maryanne arrived aboard Noelani (V39-101) just in time for dinner. A delicious array of food appeared...no one went hungry! Al's cherry pie is becoming a tradition! Because the park closed at sundown, a parade of dinghies left for their mother craft shortly after seven thirty.

An hour or so later, a set of nav lights was seen approaching, followed by much banging of anchor and hammer... Jeff had arrived aboard Hanuman (V32-108). He'd been en-route through the delta from Stockton since Friday morning! Grace ferried Jeff to Egret where dinner was traded for wine...

Sunday morning coffee was served aboard the two rafted Amazing Graces....boat tours were conducted and Valiant tips swapped... finally, goodbyes were said about 11 o'clock, as the boats departed for their respective ports.

(Al was right! Paradise has the stickiest mud in the bay... anchors and chains were made clean after much scrubbing and spraying...)

To those of you who couldn't join us... we hope to see you next year!
